Orange Romania S.A., through the Orange Educational Program, in partnership with the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, offers annual scholarships to students enrolled in IT&C-related faculties.
Romanian students with permanent residence in Romania, as well as students from EU member states, EEA countries, or the Swiss Confederation, enrolled at the university and meeting the criteria of this regulation, are eligible.
Scholarships may be granted to full-time students (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral level) working on thesis topics relevant to Orange Romania S.A.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
- Undergraduate and master's students: maximum 2 backlogs at the end of the previous semester (may be waived with a written recommendation from the thesis advisor).
- Undergraduates only: minimum grade 9 average from two selected subjects covering essential technical skills for the thesis (may also be waived by the advisor).
For PhD students: 40% application file evaluation, 60% interview (also eliminatory).
Scholarships cannot be awarded based on age, gender, religion, race, political views, school history, foreign studies, or other scholarship access.
Selection Procedure
At the beginning of each academic year, Orange Romania S.A. will inform the university of the number and value of available scholarships and the proposed list of thesis topics.
Faculty leadership will announce this to students, including application deadlines. Evaluation and appeal committees are jointly established by Orange Romania and the university, with each committee including two academic staff members.
After the deadline, the evaluation committee verifies eligibility, ranks applicants, and selects scholarship recipients based on interview results and available spots.
Appeals
Appeals can be submitted within 24 hours of result announcement. The appeal committee responds within 48 hours of the appeal deadline. Interview scores are final and cannot be contested.
Application File Requirements
- Copy of ID
- Statement of intended thesis topic (from Orange list or related domain)
- Motivation letter (doctoral students must include research proposal with relevance, impact, and approach)
- Academic transcript or certificate (issued by the faculty office)
- Optional for bachelor’s/master’s: Printed report or project presentation (chosen by student or advisor) demonstrating technical understanding, synthesis, and implementation
Scholarship Agreement
Selected students will sign a scholarship agreement and data publication consent with Orange Romania S.A.
If a bachelor’s or master’s student fails to defend their thesis at the end of the academic year, the scholarship amount must be returned.
This regulation is valid for the duration of the partnership agreement between Orange Romania S.A. and Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași.
